Pass your driving test

What sort of example are you?

O.K. so you have passed your test - now what?

The driving test is like all other tests and examinations. What do I mean by that? You would not normally go into an examination without studying and learning as much as you possibly could about the subjects you expected to come up in the exam — would you?

I am constantly amazed at the number of people who don't approach the Driving Test with the same attitude. I regularly have requests for 'PRE-TESTS' the day before a test or sometimes even on the day of a test, often from someone who has been driving for years. They are often amazed when they see the marks they clock up during their pre-test. Most people slip into (?bad) habits as they drive. These need to be sorted out WELL before your test so that you are not constantly having to think about correcting mistakes in behaviour - and often then not able to concentrate on the many problems around you. Most drivers do not normally drive in a way which would ensure they pass their driving test - unfortunately. As said elsewhere, we normally study and prepare for exams, not just go to sit the exam without being able to do what is required of us. We need to do the same for the Driving Test. You will not be able to 'WING IT' You have a tester sitting in the seat beside you watching every move you make!

Please, Please, Please prepare for your test!

• Go to a GOOD driving instructor as early as possible for an assessment
• Listen to the advice given and HEED it
• Read and study the Rules of the Road
• Drive ACCORDING to the 'Rules of the Road' (very difficult if you have not read them)
• Practise regularly — make sure you can do the syllabus
• Make sure you understand the 'Technical Checks'
• Know your car and its controls

To all parents, brothers, sisters, teachers, etc.

What sort of example are you.

It is a well known fact that people follow the example of parents
or others they look up to and respect.

• If they see you speeding, they are likely to... ?
• If they see you breaking traffic lights, they are likely to... ?
• If you are an aggressive driver, they are likely to... ?
• If you use your phone when driving, they are likely to... ?
• If you queue jump, they are likely to... ?
• If you 'hog' the middle of the road, they are likely to... ?
• If you blast your horn at the driver in front, they are likely to ...?
• If you are a good driver, they are likely to be a ...?
• If you are patient, they are likely to be ...?
• If you obey the law, they are likely to ...?
• If you ........., they are likely to ......?

They will assume that what YOU do is normal and acceptable. Is it?
Help me to educate my pupils by being a good example — please!

O.k. So you have passed your Driving Test

What have you done since then to update your skills?

• Have you ever read a book to learn something new about driving?
• Have you watched a driving video or DVD?
• Have you ever attended a driving training course?
• Have you taken an advanced Driving Test?
  • i.e. the Institute of Advanced Motorists
• Have you ever checked to see if you still know the 'Rules of the Road'?
• Do you still drive according to the 'Rules of the Road'?
• Could you correctly answer 40 random questions from the 'Theory Test'
• Do you understand what the newer road signs mean?

We do not allow people to use any sort of machinery, computer, cash register,
fire extinguisher, etc., in business and then carry on doing the same thing for years and years
without updating and upgrading their skills.

Why do we not do the same thing with our driving? Many things change over the years.
We all need to keep our driving skills up to date

If you had to re-sit your driving test tomorrow  -  would you pass?.
    Most drivers probably would NOT!!!!!!

Why not attempt a mock driving test to see how you perform now!
This can be arranged and you alone see the results!!!!
